Meningitis is a fatal disease. You can easily die from it. It is fatal in one in ten cases, and one in seven cases survivors are left with serious disability, such as deafness or brain injury. Once you have meningitis it is easier to get it again. A loss of memory and unawareness of your surroundings can occur during the sickness period.
